ABSTRACT FOR THE CATALINA REPORT ON WOOD AND LAMINATE FLOORING

SUMMARY OF MAJOR FINDINGS
Wood flooring regained share of U.S. floor coverings sales during 2024. Wood flooring gained share since single-family home construction began to stir due to the lack of existing home sales, and the wood flooring sector has the highest dependence on builder purchases. The inroads were made by engineered wood flooring products. Engineered wood flooring outpaced overall floor coverings sales due to the growing availability of relatively low-cost products sourced from Vietnam and Cambodia. Meanwhile, laminate flooring continues to lose ground due to this sector’s heavy reliance on residential replacement purchases, the weakest floor coverings market. U.S. manufacturers, however, gained share despite declining import prices from producers located in China and Germany.
