ABSTRACT FOR THE CATALINA REPORT ON LUXURY VINYL TILE AND OTHER RESILIENT FLOORING

SUMMARY OF MAJOR FINDINGS
The resilient flooring sector was impacted by the decline in total U.S. floor coverings sales in 2023 and 2024. Resilient flooring, however, was able to hold onto the double-digit floor covering dollar sales share over the past seven years. The inroads were driven by growing acceptance of rigid core LVT in residential and commercial markets. Meanwhile, manufacturers and marketers added commercial lines to take advantage of growth in non-residential markets. U.S. manufacturers, however, lost some of the share taken from foreign manufacturers over the previous two years as price competition increased from foreign-sourced products. Low-cost foreign competition especially increased in the flexible LVT market. Competition is up sharply from manufacturers located in Vietnam.

LVT AND OTHER RESILIENT FLOORING SALES TRENDS
Catalina Research has uncovered these trends in our in-depth analysis of the U.S. LVT and other resilient flooring market. U.S. shipments, exports, imports, and price trends are evaluated for luxury vinyl tile (LVT), VCT and other vinyl tile, vinyl sheet products, and other flooring materials. Data is provided on a dollar and unit basis. Catalina also reviewed product innovations and estimated sales of rigid core versus flexible LVT, and WPC versus SPC flooring products. Import data analyzes shipments of foreign-sourced products by major country of origin and their share of the U.S. market. Export data analyzes foreign sales by major country of destination.

END-USE MARKET PURCHASES AND EXPORTS
The report’s end-use market analysis provides executives with growing sales opportunities in residential, non-residential, and transportation equipment markets. Residential markets are further divided into new construction, residential remodeling, and manufactured housing markets. Non-residential markets are segmented into new construction and commercial contract purchasers. Catalina used these data trends to calculate LVT and other resilient flooring’s share of total residential and non-residential flooring markets. Residential and non-residential sales are further segmented by product type.

FACTORS AFFECTING DEMAND
End-use market trends are correlated with U.S. housing demand, non-residential construction spending, mortgage interest rates, and other housing and economic indicators to uncover the factors affecting demand and provide insights into the direction of domestic demand during 2025 and beyond.

PROFIT MARGINS AND THE COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT
In addition, Catalina Research examined the cost structure and profitability of U.S. resilient flooring plants. Data trends are compiled for material, labor, and capital inputs. As part of this analysis, Catalina included recent U.S. manufacturer and marketer developments, and compiled company LVT and other resilient flooring sales. Catalina used this information to calculate U. S. market shares of the leading competitors. Catalina tracked leader’s product lines, manufacturing and distribution, capital investments, acquisitions, and new products. Executives are urged to review the growth- and profit-oriented strategies of leading LVT, and other resilient flooring manufacturers and marketers compare their company’s own performance to the industry averages.
